TENIR/RESTER (2012-2014)
Tenir/Rester is a visual inventory of disorder, documenting the world through unfinished, broken and scattered shapes and structures. It’s a work that considers remains and ruins as symbols of disappearance, but also of resistance. It is my poetic and personal view on today’s society and in a sense, a contemporary interpretation of the still life. Entering the field of photography from a visual arts background, I decided to keep my fine arts approach to this new domain. For me, photography is not an isolated medium, I rather see it as a raw material that you can compose and reorganize as you wish. I prefer to emphasize the symbolic power of an image, more than its technical qualities. Because of this, I consider each image in relation to the entire body of work as well as the space where it will be exhibited; I do not restrict it to a single format or a title. The concepts of ruin, rests and resistance are important to my work. These are matters that also question the medium of photography itself. My work is usually exhibited as polyptychs, by overlapping images and in art installations.
