In November 2010, I had the opportunity to travel to Shanghai to work with a friend. Quiet and understated, these photographs were made on our downtime – heading to and from work, and near my hotel in JingAn park where locals gather to socialize, exercise and meditate. It was inspiring to see the simple practice of taking time out of one’s day to connect with oneself, each other and the environment. A balance and orderliness, both mental and physical, is reflected in their everyday lives.
