Josh Anderson is an artist/photographer based in Cincinnati, Ohio. His work has appeared in many publications including i-D, Bloomberg Businessweek, Time, Smith Journal, Nylon and others. He is a native Cincinnatian and a coffee enthusiast. Today we share his series, Signal Code.
Signal Codes is based on various ideas of communication. The project started as a simple collection of photographs taken while my girlfriend lived overseas, and later moving to the United States. After working on the project for over a year I noticed many of the photographs were representative of various elements in our lives. Cell phones, travel, possibility, fear and known and unknown parts of each other. I saw the photos as a kind of coded language and really enjoyed working like that. Lately, I have been focusing on different forms of communication; signs, symbols, perceived signals, body language and ambiguous forms of communication. The project still centers around the communication between Adele and I, however, I hope to keep it broad enough to not simply be a collection of photos of a muse.
