As I Venture Towards the Sun

Growing up reading the short stories of Twain and Faulkner in rural Connecticut led me to imagine a Shakespearean-like country weighed down by heat and humidity. Upon arriving in Georgia, I immediately felt the weight of the air and started to remember what I could only envision in the midst of a Nor’easter. It’s only now, years later, I could begin to photograph the stories I could only imagine through the serendipitous nature of travel.

While these photographs have been realized and found during my time in the South, figuratively, they have no metaphorical boundaries in where they lead or what they represent. Similar to the work of Faulkner and Twain, ideas and visions are embellished and fabricated; yet the truth remains.
