Jacob Biba

Jacob Biba is a writer and photographer based in Asheville, North Carolina. His work has been published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Monocle, and the Guardian. Originally from a small tobacco town in the piedmont of North Carolina, he moved to the mountains to attend the University of North Carolina Asheville where he majored in sociology. Now a stay-at-home dad, he spends most of his time photographing his young son and walking around his neighborhood. At night, he reads.

There is a mountain

The mountain is a collection of images straddling the loose borders of one’s own nostalgia and longing. Each photograph represents the rediscovery of something that was once lost or out of sight — like when a high peak is swaddled within a cloud, hidden just for a moment until the season’s strong wind clears the air.
