Alfie White

Alfie White is a photographer born, raised, and based in South London. Alfie’s work explores the nuances of everyday life, focusing on moments of emotion and human intimacy which he finds meaningful. Alfie works on predominantly 35mm Black & White film which he develops, prints, and scans from in his bedroom/makeshift-darkroom.

Photography acts as a vehicle for Alfie to explore his personal interests and passions, and as a way of navigating through the world and communicating his interpretation of it as he does so. His work fits into the documentary practice and holds strong elements of street photography, but it’s better to be considered a continuous visual-study on humanity and social conditions, seen through Alfie’s lens both literally and metaphorically.

His work has recently received the recognition and praise of various publications, including the likes of Dazed and Vogue. Half-way through this year, Alfie was awarded a grant from the Dazed 100 Ideas Fund to carry out a national photo essay on those affected by COVID-19, which he is currently working on and will be published in 2021.
