TitleCritical Mass 2018

Critical Mass is entering it's 15th year of providing participants with career-building opportunities and promoting the best emerging and mid-career artists working today. Critical Mass is about exposure, connection, and community - as well as some very notable awards!

The jury, which consists of 200+ top curators, publishers, editors, and media producers every year is one of the largest and most diverse out there. Critical Mass isn't your typical photography competition - entering is an opportunity to get your work in front of photography professionals who can offer exhibitions, publications, and more. Of course, Photolucida does offer some wonderful awards, but many more opportunities are offered to artists by professionals who fall in love with their work while jurying.

2018 AWARDS:
- New! CAMPO Residency Award – One photographer will be chosen for a four-week residency at CAMPO, a new creative colony in Garzon, Uruguay.
- Rauschenberg Residency Award – One photographer will be chosen for a four-week residency at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation’s Captiva Island (Florida) estate.
- Blue Sky Gallery Solo Show Award – One photographer will be chosen for a solo exhibition at Blue Sky Gallery during Photolucida’s Review’s Event and Portland Photo Month (April 2019).
- Critical Mass Print Collecting Initiative – All 200 Finalists will receive a print of their choice from the special-edition fine art prints available through the Print Collecting Initiative.

- All entrants will have their work seen and voted on by the pre-screening committee, a group of 20+ dedicated curators, publishers, and editors.
- The top 200 finalists will have their work seen and voted on by over 200 esteemed photography jurors (after paying an additional $200 registration fee). Jurors have the option of leaving comments for finalists about their work.
- All entrants will be able to view all of the submitted work (after Critical Mass closes).
- Awards will be announced in the Fall of 2018.

We can't wait to see your work!
