|Title||I Can Hear The Road Call|
From folk music to movies and novels, the road has captured the imagination of creators across the globe. The drive through the American West on Route 66 or Route 36, the drive on the east coast on Route 1, or the north border on Route 2, for generations Americans have come to love and know the road like their own backyards. But the idea of the road trip isn’t exclusive to America. Road trips are taken in essentially every continent, and all share one consistent theme — the open road. This season’s submission-based zine is about the theme of the road trip. The title of this zine is taken from a lyric from The Milk Carton Kid’s “Monterey.”
There is no specific style, genre or subject in which this is looking for; the idea of “the "road trip” can be defined how you see fit. This will be published as a zine through Sad Bird Books with Blurb, curated, edited and designed by Jeff Smudde.
Each participant can submit up to five images, but no more than three may be accepted per participant. You may submit only one image if you see fit.
Upon the completion of the zine, participants will be sent a link to gain early-access to the printed copy two weeks before official publication. Sad Bird Books and Jeff Smudde will not profit from any sales of the zine. Email Jeff Smudde with any questions regarding the call for entry.
